A perfect day
with cool air so clear
you can see right across the lake.
It whispers seductively “summer is coming”
as it zephyrs against my skin
warm from the high sun.
Why am I still sad?

The high sun will turn the cool air hot by afternoon
Noisy birds will fight for the tastiest worms
In the spade-loosened soil
And children will shriek with play
As they shake off winter solitude with their jackets.
How can I be sad?

Based on this haiku from the 25 Poems for High Summer set
A perfect spring day
With cool clear air and warm sun
Why am I still sad?
