I’ve written poetry all of my life
As a child, a teen, a young lover, a wife
I’ve written in company and on my own
In my head, on a pad, in an app on my phone
I write in the dark in the heat in the rain
Sonnets and haiku and free form restrains
Bad poems good poems brilliant ones
Sad silly happy resilient ones
I can’t quantify what this does for me-
I’ve found that it’s cheaper than therapy.
