Family is a well
Sunk in life-giving ground
Deep as night
Energy-full, a nexus
insinuating itself
through the earth beneath
connecting next door
Next year
Next of kin
Through drought, pain, birth, death.

  1. I like the central metaphor, but I also like the way you’ve built on it, giving hints that family isn’t just about kinship, and isn’t always necessarily nice (deep as night?), but sustains us.
