There is a gap
Like voids in the periodic table
Not missing or empty
But undiscovered
Waiting to be filled with something
as mundane as a hobby
as prosaic as a cat
as useless as a lover
Between barium and hafnium
The unknown elements
That will make the table complete

for the dverse prompt of 1-8-20, “elements”

  1. Actually,

Lanthanum is a chemical element with the symbol La and atomic number 57. It is a soft, ductile, silvery-white metal that tarnishes slowly when exposed to air and is soft enough to be cut with a knife. Source: Wikipedia
    Symbol: La
    Atomic number: 57

But, in some periodic tables, lanthanum and actinium (just below it) are absent. Like the rest of science, there are believers, and there are non-believers. Here, we have another example.

      • Hum. I understand. Comes across as critical. That was not my intent. Nonetheless, it is truly a mystery that in some periodic tables there is a void, in others there isn’t. Maybe that’s not the point you’re trying to make. Maybe there is no point. I’ll shut up now.

  2. Yet another mystery. I posted this at 10:38am. Xanku claims I posted it at 4:37pm. Are we six hours apart, or closer than you think?
