I asked for memories of
That place from where we parted
When we grew up together
The high school halls, the parks, the malls
The prairie where we started
When we grew up together
Between divisive wars
The hot one and the culture one
I asked for memories of
Actions, places, classes, fun
A conversation and a memoir
That keep us all together
The times when we agreed
On skipping school and haunted towers
I asked for memories of
The young transgressions, the stolen hours
Some lost, some departed, all loved
In our memories of
When we grew up together

This is the framing poem for a prompt to my high school class,
through our Facebook group, for memories of high school.
