How do you know
the moment that says
your life has changed
Will a choice stretch out clear before you
In a swirl of yellow leaves
And if it does, can you really recognize
Which is the easy way?
Is there a clear diverging path
One easy, one hard,
One noble, one base
Or are you the butterfly
Inconsequentially flapping its wings
And setting off in some other hemisphere
A hurricane?
If God is just a choice you make
What matters then which road you’re on
Or which path you take

A riff off Robert Frost, with a little Blaise Pascal and some chaos theory thrown in
and on prompt for Day Two of National Poetry Writing Month 2021
