I hummed a waltz in the garden
The plants all danced with me
I sang out in the garden
And asked the trees
To all sing with me
Though it started to rain
I just twirled in the sparkling dew
And when I went in
The garden still danced
Won’t you come and dance
With me and the flowers
Out in the garden too

I missed the link, but this is for the dverse prompt of 5/21: a waltz
shared for OLN 5/27/21
bonus points for identifying the famous waltz I used as a model

  1. What a wonderful waltz. The ending reminds me so much of Mr. Roger’s opening song. Designed for little kids, his show reached my inner child every time. I’d love to “twirl in the sparkling dew” in the garden with you ❤

  2. This is very beautiful; it kind of reminds me of Robert Frost. I love the rhythm, and this whole piece brought a smile to my face. Excellence. ❤ ❤

  3. I’ve been humming a waltz since Bjorn posted the prompt, Xan, but I can’t find out what it’s called. Your poem has made me realise that it doesn’t matter what it’s called – it’s the humming and dancing that’s important. I love the idea of twirling in the sparkling dew.

  4. Touched me like s song.,Well written Xan! I celebrate the veracity and power of your words. May you continue always sharing only your authentic self — that alone makes you genuine, meaningful to read, and of worth to be heard! Síocháin!
