It’s 8:30 on Sunday morning
I dreamed a flock of cardinals
Had settled in my front garden
Bright crimson droplets
Under the jewel-like flowers
And all I could wonder was
Why is my garden

  1. Cardinals are said to be messengers sent from our departed loved ones. When my friend’s husband died, a cardinal sat on the limb above where they held his memorial the whole time and also came and rested on a limb in front of the desk where I sat–far away in Mexico.
