I made a golden loaf of braided bread
And soup from summer bounty filling basket
Upon basket with the first tomatoes and the last
Of climbing purple beans
Ascending drying stalks of corn
I put up berries that I gathered
From the nearby park one early morning
The yellow flowers of the autumn pumpkins
Just now starting to appear
The onions and the carrots just emerging
From their summer soil bier
And with the grieving goddess I do wonder
If Lammas is the start or end
Of every year

  1. I absolutely love, love this! Especially; “The yellow flowers of the autumn pumpkins/Just now starting to appear/The onions and the carrots just emerging/From their summer soil bier.” You give us so much to think about with the closing question. 💝💝
